800037 Data Logging WBGT Heat Stress Monitor

The Sper 800037 Data Logging Heat Stress Monitor measures relative humidity, air temperature, dew point and globe (radiant) temperature. Data are recorded with date and time stamp on standard SD memory cards (like digital camera memory cards). Excel formatted data can also be streamed directly to your computer via optional software and USB cable.

In a nutshell, this heat stress monitor offers:

  • Measure and record
    • Relative humidity
    • Air temperature
    • Black globe temperature (2 3/4″ diam)
    • Dew point (calculated)
    • Wet bulb temperature (calculated)
    • Date
    • Time
    • Adjustable, audible alarm
  • Data logging (to SD cards)
  • Uses readily available SD cards for memory (never run out of memory)
  • Can stream data directly to a computer via optional USB cable and software (p/n 850080)
  • Min/max
  • Auto power off
  • Low battery indicator
  • Hold function
  • Fold-out tripod
  • Backlit LCD
  • Soft carrying case
  • Available with NIST traceable certification as 800037C

Heat stress ideally is monitored by measuring core body temperature. This is impractical in almost all cases and, based on extensive experimental data, commercial heat stress monitors measure air temperature, humidity and radiant temperature to calculate a Heat Index for indoor and outdoor work environments. Heat Indexes are correlated to risk levels via standard conversion charts. Additional information is available here, or from OSHA or the Navy. OSHA’s Heat Index Guidelines can be accessed here.
